If you aren't the sort who is up to date with the current trends in the tech sector, then fear not, I shall help you get some useful insights into this fascinating world; but, mind you, I'm ain't making any lofty promises of making you a tech czar just after reading this page. Presently, one of the biggest news doing the rounds on the web is the imminent of the hugely popular napster service. Napster is a free piece of software through which you can download songs from other napster members. Although this sounds like sweet music to most of us, the recording industries didn't think so. They went ahead and filed a case against napster for alleged infringement of copyrights. And only a couple of weeks back, the court has told napster to prepare itself for its final rites. However Napster founder Shawn Fanning has promised to strike back with another business model where he envisages people to buy music off his site. The question of whether he'll be able to convince his 64 million ( yes, that's right, 64m) members to cough up bucks for what they have been having for free since napster's inception is highly debatable. This is because, since napster, there has been a proliferation of napster clones which not only do the same thing which napster did , but are also capable of searching for any type of file, not just digital audio mp3 files. And these services are much harder to police as they don't operate on a central server like napster. An example of such a popular service is Gnutella.
